UPVC Window Gap (Toe and Heel)

I have a 2 panel UPVC window, the left hand panel opens from the centre out to the left.

Unfortunately when it is closed although it appears tight against the seal where the handle is the other end has a large gap.

I attached a picture of the bottom hinge (the top is the same) but a cant see how there is any adjustment in it. I,m guessing it requires a toe and heel adjustment to pull that end tight?

Any instruction on this would be greatly appreciated.

Toe and heel is only for lifting the handle side up in case of settlement, the hinge side can't drop as it's fixed, if you mean there's a gap against the gasket on hinge side even when it's closed then it's very likely worn hinges and will need replacing as a pair

Crank thanks for that very useful info. And i am correct in thinking these types of hinges have no adjustment?
And yes you are a correct theirs a gap against the gasket on the hinge side.

You can buy new hinges from Screwfix. Pretty easy to fit for a competent DIYer although admittedly rather cumbersome with the heavy window.
I took the glass out first when I did mine, it reduces the weight and makes it easier to hold in place when drilling / fitting screws etc.

Hopefully get them this weekend and give it a shot. I guess the chances of the replacement hinges lining up with the original holes is slim?

Its difficult to see any ware on the hinges, i cant imagine this particular window has had much use apart from just being cracked open a few inches. Any thoughts on that gents?

The wear will be be throughout the guides and rivets which in turn causes this V point not to locate in the corresponding V cup and it rides outside hence the gap you get, sometimes a smear of vaseline in the cup can help. Close the window till you can barely see the V going in the cup and you most likely see it's not locating

You cant see the wear but if you open the window fully and grip it on the outer and inner side frames and give it a hard pull&push you will soon see and hear if there is wear.
Buy quality hinges (do it once and do it right) MILA are what I used.
Most screw holes will line up but be prepared to drill new holes.
Do not refit new hinges with the old screws, Use new stainless steel panhead screws that have a thread outer diameter slightly larger than the original screws, this will ensure a tight hold in old holes and the slotted underside of the screw heads will stop any movement in later years. Such screws are available on the bay.

To check V cup fitting I use a lump of Blu-Tack. Press it in the cup and close the window....if it is locating correctly you will see a perfect impression. Also useful to define gaps between the frame and the window.
Hinges, as above, change both hinges at the same time.
Use a pair of double suction grips to ensure you get a secure hold on upstairs windows.
Screw the hinges to the window frame and when fitting screw the top hinge to the main frame first (1 screw) not to tight, then repeat with the bottom hinge, then up and down until all screws are fully located, to finish tighten at the cups, then the end and lastly the middle screws.

Ended up getting the hinges from Amazon as the ones from screw fix didn't have the release button to allow for easy cleaning. Anyway installed and now the window closes and seals like a dream. Amazing considering i cant see anything wrong with the originals LOL. Thanks all for the great input.
