I'm relieved to see that Trump wasn't selected in the Iowa Caucasus, not because I disagree with his opinions.
I'm just looking further ahead.
Suppose he became the Presidential nominee for the Republicans and they failed miserably at the Presidential Election. Wouldn't that leave the Republican Party to go through a similar exercise that our Labour Party went through in the early '90s and emerged with Tony and Gordon as New Labour.

It might put the Republican Party in a much stronger position in future Presidential Elections.

In that case we should terminate our 'special' relationship with the US (assuming we currently either have or want one), take the phone of the hook, return all post 'not at this address' and don't answer any emails.

With a population of more than 320 million you'd think that there might just be one decent person capable of running for President!

Suppose he became the Presidential nominee for the Republicans and they won.
Can you imagine the type of judges he would elect to the Supreme Court and the spats between the President and Congress?
I think it might be reduced to a farce.
