My Acer laptop prompted me to create a recovery drive on a 16GB USB stick when I first bought it two years ago. I have just installed the latest Win10 mega-update (which is really a newer version of the OS) so do I need to re-create the USB drive? Or will the old one still get me into my laptop in the event of a boot failure? I'm guessing that the old version won't work now with the updated OS. (For anyone who still hasn't upgraded...….it went fine but took several hours).

Create a new one. Tool to do so is built in, just search for 'recovery drive' from the taskbar.

Or for a proper job which actually makes an image of everything, install Macrium Reflect and forget about the semi-useless Microsoft effort.
