Using a boss on the side of 4" branch

If I want to drill out the boss on a branch, is it only the female fittings that glue around the outside? Or is there a male fitting that glues on the inside.

No shops I go in sell terrain gear which is who supply the female boss adaptor

I've never seen a male fitting glued inside, wouldn't it block the pipe?

Are you talking about one of these? A 50mm to 40mm adapter on the side of a 110mm branch?

Yeah, standard boss adaptor. I was just confused as I had one and it didn't fit. Don't know why but it confused me as to what I was buying. Bought another from a different shop and was fine. Ignore the post
