Hi, I am helping my neighbour put in a kitchen where there was no kitchen before, and they have removed a radiator from the wall where they are going to have the kitchen units and sink etc. As the pipe run was a little awkward to run in new pipes and the radiator is now gone they decided to use the rad pipes.

They capped off the heating flow and return at a convenient point and connected the adjacent hot and cold feeds to what was previously heating pipes, thereby providing hot and cold supplies to the kitchen without too much hassle. So you now have 2x about 4m of what was heating pipe now suppling the kitchen hot and cold. He did flush them out also.

I could not help wondering if this was ok or not so these are my questions

1. Is it ok to do this, ie is there a regulation or reason not to do this?
2. What would a plumber do ie is it something that they would definitely not do or is it something that they would just do and say, oh it will be fine?

Any info appreciated.

Anywhere but the kitchen  because the water to that cold tap must be wholesome ( potable)
