I am about to tile my bathroom, the wall has some cracks that could open up at some stage causing cracks in grout, although structurely the wall is stable - am I ok to apply scrim tape embedding it into the cement based BAL tile adhesive, then apply the tile directly on top of it?

skrim tape wont stop the grout cracking it will just stop the plaster cracking under neath the wall has got to have a lot of movement for it to crack though
