Using zinc/metal flashing in a shower tray?

Hello all,

I am fed up of constantly having to re-mastic my shower tray and I am thinking about more robust/radical solutions. I recall once seeing a bespoke urinal trough flashed and clad with lead (in a nightclub) and was wondering why this wouldn't work in a shower tray?

I appreciate the aesthetics may suffer and would likely only use a small flashing at the bottom and tile over.

So, would this work?

There's no need to be redoing the seal all the time unless you're using the wrong materials or method or there's some other underlying problem.
