Utility extractor above boiler

Hello, in our utility room we have ventilation holes above the boiler, but are thinking of putting in an extractor fan in this same place to get better ventilation.
Externally the outlets (flue and fan) will be more than 30cm apart.
However is this arrangement ok internally - i.e. installing the fan above the boiler?
Thank you

Boiler engineers will give you a definitive answer, but I know that a blue company insists on fitting one next to the boiler to pump the price up by a few hundreds

The air vent will date back to an old boiler that relied on taking its air from the room. Assuming your modern looking one is a balanced flue, it's now redundant. So you can replace it with anything.

I don't see any conflict between the flue and an extractor. But check regulations.

It will be warm above the boiler. So check the installation instructions to see what they say about airspace around it. But they're often installed inside cupboards so I doubt it's an issue. I might box the flue in with plasterboard, but I doubt that's even necessary.
