Please can anyone help?
I have an old 1984 Vailant Boiler and up until i had work done in my bathroom it was working BRILLIANTLY... Then disaster!!!! Hot water No heating, then heating No hot water, then if i had heating on hot water in bathroom but none downstairs... and so it went on until Monday when she finally gave up and gave us NOTHING
So got "best" man out "Vailant specialist with years of experience with these old models" and "Oh yes the parts are very hard to find but i have them, rest assured i can fix her!" 2hrs into job big problem parts in switch box missing got to turn gas off "Very Dangerous" can't find parts, your going to need a new boiler"
This boiler has been in this house for nearly 30years and not once has it blown up... So why can it not be put back to just hot water until we can find the parts this specialist says we need... ANYONE OUT THERE WITH PARTS!!

I have an old vaillant boiler, older than yours and all the parts are available online and in most large plumbing shops.

This is just one site where you can buy parts. I have bought from them in the past and their service is great but some parts are slightly overpriced compared to other suppliers.

EDIT: Sorry mate bunnyman is right, yours is older than mine by a few years!

If John Sharman has not fixed it by Saturday afternoon then call me and I might be able to look at it after I have been to CJs on Sunday.

Of course being Cov, there is always Iron Naz who will rid the industry and fix anything for half price!

Thanks for that advice, apparently when the man took it apart several bits were missing inside it  but like i said we have been in this house for 7years and we have NEVER had anyone out to look at it and it has worked brilliantly for all those years and now, it has bits missing and the man has switched our gas off so now no heating and no hot water...

So if i can't get a new box or the parts (which i am having great difficulty finding) we are going to have to have a new one!

One wonders how it has been working until now?

Or did the fellow remove parts to try to get the job of replacing replacing the boiler?

Tony

i doubt that thought if he is clever enought o spot specific parts missing then he knows what he is doing with this workhorse,

like bunny man says says get your local specialist out (this guy comes highly recommended as an ex vaillaint engineer) he will give the defining verdict!!

They sometimes do but its best to email them first and get it confirmed before you buy....
