Hi woundering if anyone can help me, the CH works fine but when DHW is drawn nothing? i believe the problem lies within the water section (from reseach from previous posts) maybe clogged or split diaphragm. when the hot tap is on if i give the cam that hits the switch a little push it engages and hot water works fine but wont come on if i dont give that little innitial push.
I went to remove the water section and the screw which holds it in place (screw L in the service manual) was corroded from a leak and has snapped off. any ideas on how i can get round this and remove the water section? would it be possible to drill the screw out and re-tap anothe one in?
any advice would be greatly apreciated
cheers guys

Won't get very far by changing the diverter valve

Go on,you can`t wait can you. Let`s have your moment. :) Hang on... Drum Roll...........

Do as Bunnyman says and drill the screw out with a sharp HSS bit. The support bracket is not very dear. You can then refurb the water section or replace complete it if the screws are too corroded to get out. If you get it apart you'll find it probably only needs a diaphragm and a gland to bring it back to life. Plenty of grease on the coupling piston when you put the support bracket back on, and it'll be good for another 20 years

Got a hot tap ere,20 years old, drippin all the time,

Why`s that then Rob? 8) That`s what the poster is talking about, you obviously didn`t get it.

You can drill the old screw out and then retap the thread, probably an M5 thread.

Really Tony? I think I'd rather have a nice new one with a clean nylon bush for the sake of £8.33 +vat

Perhaps you carry them round but for anyone else drilling and tapping with existing drill and tap will be far quicker ( and cheaper ),

Tony why do you disagree with the bunny boys in the open forum as opposed to the combustion chamber?? maybe because you 'think' you are one of the elite engineers out there???? maybe you like to make a good impression on the open forum?????? , they repair vaillants everyday and have been familiar with these boilers for well over 25/30 years , how many have you worked on????? teaching granny to suck eggs again are we?
