The boiler is now not giving me any hot water or central heating. I cleaned the water section as described in the other post as I was unable to change the parts. The leak did reduce considerably and everything has been fine.

Whilst I was on holiday it stopped supplying hot water, on my return I checked it and found that the CH doesn't work either.

As far as I can ascertain the lever on the right of the diverter valve (behind the clear plastic cover) should move towards the middle of the boiler when water is drawn. this then actuates 2 microwitches. This part is not moving at all, one of the microswitches is already being actuated but the upper one isn't. The boiler runs, but there is no gas being supplied and therefore the ignition doesn't try to light it. If I activate the microswitch manually then the boiler fires up.

Has anyone any ideas? Could it be related to the water section that I stripped down the other week or is it totally unrelated.

If I need to find someone who knows and repairs the 242 where do I start to look? I'm in Essex/East London

If I were to replace the whole boiler which one will give me similar reliability. that is until recently:)

As ever thanks for any advice that is offered.

Steve
