Vaillant EcoFit noisy after new radiators

Hello!

I had a Vaillant EcoFit Pure installed in October - its been working beautifuly since then.

Until now - I recently had two new radiators installed by a builder (who wasn't great - won't be using them again!). I don't believe the builder touched the boiler at all - including isolating / turning it off to do the work.

Ever since, the boiler has been noisy, making a thumping noise on startup - and kept going into error F.28. I've tried the P.00 air surge program on both the heating and hot water systems multiple times, and now it starts up without giving an error - but it's still noisy. I suspect there might still be air in the system from the sounds - any other ideas in how to get rid of it before I call an engineer? Could it be something else entirely?

Thank you in advance!

what is the boiler pressure ?
do some more air purges and bleed air from radiators.

Pressure is at 1.5 bar. I've bled some radiators (the new ones) but not all! Will try today - thanks!

It sounds as if your problem just might possibly be similar to mine, and although I also had new radiator valves fitted I genuinely think this has to be a coincidence. The problem seems to be caused in the vast majority of cases when the hot water tap is turned on, which is you were trying to comapare it with a car, you would say it was misfiring under sudden, rapid acceleration. The noise does remind me slightly of the sudden 'whoosh' you hear when turning on a gas fire, but I'm not at all convinced that it really is that; there sound more of an actual thumping sound than that. Whatever, it seems far more likely to be either a gas supply or ignition problem affecting the hot tap water demand almost exclusively. I did notice it this morning when the heating turned on for the first time after being turned off overnight, but it was much less severe and gradually went away as soon as the pipes had warmed up. I will make a point of letting you know the result after the Vaillant engineer has called on Monday.

Here is the reply as promised. The thumping noises were ignition problems due to an incorrect gas/air ratio, but there were a few other problems as well which required a few new parts (nothing major). I think a piece of grit may have found its way into the pressure sensor. Here is the engineer's report - all done under warranty.
