Hi there

I checked the pressure on my boiler the other day and it was less than zero, yet appeared to be working correctly.

We added additional water to the system to the 1.2 mark, and bled the radiators as the manual suggested. Yet, since the heating has been turned on, the pressure went to over 2 and water was pouring out at the top of the boiler system. It seemed as though 2 x 'O' rings were poorly, so we replaced those too.

Now the boiler doesn't make the horrid clanging noises that it used to, and no further water is appearing, but still the pressure rises very high....over 3 at one point.

We have bled the radiators to remove some of the pressure, but the pressure still seems very erractic.

Would anyone know what is the best thing to do, I am very worried that something else has gone wrong on it? :(

Many thanks for your help.

Just done one yesterday with same problems. If it's 7 years old or more (approx), look down the back of the boiler from above. The red expansion vessel has a cap on a car tyre type valve. With boiler cool, and pressure between 1 and 1.5 bar, remove the cap, and press pin inside valve.

If water spurts out, new expansion vessel time.

If not, check pressure as said above.

Unless I mis-read the post, Diaphragm could be kaput. Have seen 2 or 3 over last year, all between 6 and 8 years old with duff diaphragms.

Obviously, I don't have your in depth Vailant knowledge, but symptoms may point in this direction.

Its likely that the diaphragm in your expansion vessel has gone. You can get it replaced, but on the Turbo, the boiler needs to come off the wall. A cheaper alternative may be to fit an external expansion vessel to the boiler's heating return pipe near the boiler.

We have had this before please follow the instruction to repressure ev first, the exp vessels do leak around the seam of the diaphram if it's bin flat a long while when they r repressured the diaphram can seal back in the seam . However if the diaphragms split u had it but it's worth a try!
