Hi All,

First post on here, but have been reading for a while, sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't find the responses.

I have just moved into a rented house which has a Valillant Boiler controlled via a VRT360 Thermostat. I have managed to set most of it up through the limited instructions in the manual but there are 2 things I cannot work out.

1 - Is there a way to set the thermostat to cut out once a desired temperature has been reached when the central heating is in timer mode. For example if the house reaches 20 degrees the boiler won't fire anymore - at the moment it keeps on climbing to the point where we need to then manually turn it to 'OFF'

2 - Is there a way to turn it on for a period of time between timer intervals. For example it is programed to come on in the morning and evening but the wife is at home with our new born daughter and would like to 'flick it on' for an hour or so during the day.

If anyone can help with these 2 issues it would be great and save me some earache - the instructions are not the best and the guys at Vaillant were somewhat in the dark themselves - which doesnt fill me with confidence...!

Many Thanks in Advance

Thanks Andy,

I have a copy of the instructions but unless I am missing something I can't seem how to sort the overide function if there is one or the max room temp.

Will look at these again though - may have missed something!

To put the heating on in advance, use the 'quick veto' function. Press 'F' to activate.

"The quick veto function allows you to adjust the room tempera- ture for a short time (until the next time window). Press the special function button F - the quick veto symbol appears in the display along with the quick veto room temperature, which also flashes.
Turn the dial until the required quick veto room temperature appears in the display. The display switches back to basic mode after 10 seconds and the function is activated. To deactivate the function, all you need to do is press the F button."

As for your other question, try pressing P for 10 seconds, click the dial till you reach the setting for 2 point or analogue (or press the dial 5 times) and set it to 0 if its on 1 and 1 if its on 0, I recall this happening to me once but I don't remember which way round it is, basically one of the modes won't stop heating until it overshoots by 3ºc but the other switches the boiler off as soon as the required temperature has been reached (when it's 0.5ºc) above the set point. Hope this helps!

Thanks guys,

To start with I had an incomplete manual without those instructions explained, so the veto option seems to do the trick with the overide need which is great.

Will try the suggestion for the setting of the max temp as well.

Thanks to you all - hopefully problem is solved

Shame the people at Vaillant assumes everyone has a degree in bolier thermostat controls - a little too clever for it's own good I think

Cheers

Indeed, as someone once said on here it's like they assume you wrote the firmware with them! The newer versions which superseded the 360 are a lot more user friendly though but certainly not the most simple controls.
