Hi experts,
I have the above boiler which is playing up - light sequence is that it shuts down with the ignition indicator flashing. Switch off the boiler and switch on and it fires up fine, for a while and then locks out with the same problem. Sometimes when resetting, the burner lockout flashes instead.

Took a look at the fault finding manual and it indicated to replace the main PCB board. I have found a replacement PCB (is it needed?) but they advise that we must check the gas valve and the gas valve lid before installing the PCB.

Is this possible to do by a non gas safe (but savvy) individual?
Could It be something other than the PCB? I saw somewhere when searching that it could be poor water flow in the boiler. Am not convinced that local gas safe engineers are that with it - had one who turned up, switched it on, spent 30 mins with it and then said it all works fine - wrong!

Help please - much appreciated of course.

We are not permitted to give gas/combustion advice for DIYers.

The obvious solution is for you to get a competent engineer or a fixed price repair by BG or Vaillant etc.
