Hi Guys

Need help!

I have a valiant Ecotec plus 824.

Got up this morning to cold water. Went to check boiler and pressure was really low so filled up pressure then restarted boiler. Didnt seem to fire up so pressed the ignition button. Seemed to work - still no heating or hot water though.

The screen is showing a radiator symbol but no tap or pump symbol as shown in the manual. Any ideas?

It is still under warranty but dont want to wait for an engineer if its something simple im missing.

"Ignition button" is probably the reset button. Was there an F-code (fault code) showing on the screen before you pressed reset?

The rad shows it's recognising a demand for heat but the lack of other symbols means it's not firing or pumping at that precise moment. Could be fine would need to know the status: press to see an S-code - check in the manual to see what it means or post back here.

Another thing to try is to press [-] and [+] together for a couple of seconds. The boiler will then try to run full pelt for 10 minutes if possible ignoring any other controls. It's quite safe to do, and it eliminates from enquiries all sorts of possible problems with thermostats, timers etc. If the boiler fires and shows SfH on the screen its doing heating. SfB means you've got a tap open and it's doing hot water.
