Hi,

I recently moved into a new house, there is a Valiant Ecotec Pro 24 combi which as no timer control on the front panel and a 3rd gen Nest Heatlink connected, but no thermostat (I am assuming the seller took this with them). Currently I am getting by by using the big button on the heatlink to turn the central heating on and off but I would really like to be able to put this on a timer. I believe it's possible to buy a replacement 3rd gen thermostat off ebay but I am not that bothered about the nest heatlink / thermostat option, would prefer the heating to come on at certain time - could anyone advise on the best approach to get a timer working on it? I am guessing I would maybe need call out an engineer to install a timer but just want to explore options first.

Thanks!

On the ecotec pro, you can normally fit a Vaillant time clock 150 by removing the blanking plate - a simple DIY job as the cover doesn't have to be removed and no wiring. You could then change the heating link for a wireless thermostat.

If you do wish to explore the Nest option;
scheduling for heating can be setup on the Nest thermostat itself, or via the app.

A new Nest thermostat can be paired with an old Heatlink..
But, as with anything from eBay, you take your chances.

Thank you both for you responses, will look into fitting a Valiant time clock
Just to note, if you only intend to use the new time clock and not add a separate thermostat, the wiring to the Heatlink may need to be linked out to enable it.
