Hey guys, hope someone can offer a bit of advice here, my mother has a valiant combi boiler system in her house, heating works excellently when its on, water does`nt get too hot but i assume thats with the extremely cold weather we have had, the problem is, for the last 3 mornings when she has got up and went to turn the thermostat up, the boiler does not ignite, it shows up code F28, you can press the ingite button and it will ignite, run all day as it should, next morning the same problem though, Any ideas lads

Thanks Jimmy

F28 means that the boiler has failed to start.

Possible reasons are:

Faults in the gas supply such as:
- Gas meter or gas pressure detector defective
- Air in gas
- Gas flow pressure too low
- Fire protection tap has disengaged
Faults in the gas valve, wrong gas setting, igniter (ignition transformer,
ignition cable, ignition plug) defective, ionisation current
stopped (cable, electrode), faulty earthing in appliance, electronics
defective.

You need a Gassafe registered person to diagnose any rectify the problem.

cheers for the swift reply mate, it was serviced only about 3 months ago by the guy who originally moved it upstairs for her, he was corgi now gas safe, i know quite a few gas fitters and they all say he knows his onions, only problem is he dont come back from holiday until next week. Will it be ok to keep igniting it from the button until Rob gets back and can have a look at it, or would you consider it to be dangerous ?

thanks once again for your reply
