VALIANT VCW 242 EH BOILER, PUMP WILL NOT TURN OFF

hi i think this is a simple problem but i dont know where to start, i have a valiant vcw 242 eh combi boiler.. every time i put the central heating on it lights fine via the programmer but when i turn them off the boiler flames go out but the pump keeps running on for hours sometime not stopping at all until i turn the plug switch off at the mains, sometimes when i have the hot water on the radiators start getting warm as well... can someone help please.
