I have a combi boiler that works perfectly when the thermostat kicks in the central heating, but will not work when the hot tap is turned on. Occasionally after running the hot tap for about 3/4 minutes the hot water will suddenly start up, other times it will not.

the water pressure is about 2 bars.
 
Its probably a 242/282 with a failed diverter valve!

we had exactly the same problem and everyone thought it was the diverter valve.

eventually after two new dv's were fitted, we called out a vaillant engineer and he discovered it was the fan proving switch that was at fault. something to do with the air pressure sensor?
