hi,

Hot water works fine but the heating wont start.

the pressure had dropped but I repressurised- so that is ok.

when I start the heating it kicks off but then stalls and stops. the info showing on the read out during this is - 1.6 bar & the "Internal Pump is Running" symbol.

any advice?

thanks!

Its a combi boiler chris..... dont know where the op got the RI from anyway check that the valves under the boiler to the heating circuit haven't been accidently closed.

Wasn’t entirely sure tbh, as I know a plus can be a system boiler too.

thanks all.

The RI was written on the label. (see attached)

seems the common consensus here is the valves may be responsible.

reckon its time to call in a pro

That’s R1 - which is Revision number 1. Probably not motorised valves unless you have zoning. Press the I button and report status code back please.

So it’s either a Vaillant room thermostat blocking it or the heating dial/temp isn’t up high enough. Can you post a photo of the front of the boiler and room thermostat?

Hi CBW, see attached, interesting - the thermo is showing the heating as running (the flame symbol I think)

The flame symbol is more than likely that there’s a request for heat from the thermostat. Did you know that the time clock switch on the front of the boiler is off?

As per @CBW the heating is switched off at the boiler, also post a pic of the Salus receiver and what lights it is showing with the flame symbol present on the thermostat

Forgot to turn on for the pictures - apologies.

Just now, it worked when turned on.. I moved the thermo closer to the unit for a while but no other change.

Previously with heating switched On (yes 100% have not just overlooked that option!!) - the heating would kick in and then stall with the "Internal Pump is running" symbol. Nothing would happen.
See attached image from last week ("1.6" & pump running symbol.)

There was no change to the thermostat settings during this initial failure.

Let me see what happens - if it stalls again, I will capture the full images for boiler & thermo.

I don't have a Salus receiver - just the room thermo (attached)
