Valliant No hot water-not even cold water AND heating too.

Hello Mates,

Thank god i came to this forum.
In our shared house we have problem with the boiler after the landlord de-pressurized the high pressure by removing the water.After this there is no water coming in the hot water tap,of course no heating too.
After reading few articles in this forum i understood he messed up with some valves.
I tried turning the water flow in valve but only the pressure increases,no water coming.
Pls find the attached photo for model no.
The ignition works fine.

On the 4th pipe from the left cold main there is a valve that is closed

I can see your flow and return are also shut off, and I can't make out if the gas has been shut off too, apart from the cold water inlet which has been turned off, but before you turn any of these ON, you need to know exactly why it was turned off, and if you turned all these back on again it could cause problems like leaks etc, so the question is why did he turn it off, and why did he depressurise the system, was there a leak, so becarefull before turning it back on, there could be a probvlem why he did that.

outer left and outer right valves (flow and return)are off (no heating) and the inner valve (second from right ) is also off resulting in no hot water (or any water) from taps. tut tut tut poor landlord.

Thank you so much Mr.Gas service, Mr.Mike and Mr.Bell..back to normal after few days,
On the fourth pipe i turned on the back and front valves.Before i just turned the back one on and the front valve closed this results in the pressure increase.
Mr.Bell,I Turned on all the valves.I am sure now he did it deliberately -i don't know why?but he forget kind hearted guys like u all there to help us.
Me too learned something.I am the one who know little bit about boiler in our shared house.

Has the pressure gauge gone up high again? .. Because it looks like the filling loop isolating valve has been left open.

nice spot there yerino never seen those one open as well ( the two frontal slot's) this will cause pressure increase and may be the source of the original problem.

OP, I am not a plumber or a registered gas safe man, but i know pretty well about these things, play it safe mate, never play around with things that you don't understand, they could prove fatal, because it is to do with gas and pressurised vessels and pipes, as well as flue gasses, one can never be too sure.

Your landlord may have shut it down because he may want to cover his back as he may not have a Gas safety Certificate in place, so check if you can see a valid Gas safety certificate displayed or placed or given to someone in the house and that it was last seen to by an expert less than 12 months ago.

Lastly, If you are renting a property, it is your right to demand Hot running water as well as heating from your landlord, if it has broken down then he has to have it repaired pretty soon, he can't leave it in this state for days, so better to shut it down again and ask him that you all demand Hot water and heating, and that it is part of agreement to renting a livable accomodation, fit for the purpose, and make sure you pay your rent on time as there is no ecxcuse for not doing so.

I hope he sorts it out quickly, but put the pressure on him rather than taking a chance with an appliance that you don't understand why it was shut down.

Alternatively, all you boys chip in some money and get a registered gas man to come and switch it back on and give it a safety check over and he can then issue a safety certificate, that is provided it does not need anything replaced, and all is well, it should cost you no more than about 100 quid at the most, many do it for around 50 quid, so look around, and then you could demand that amount from the landlord.

Before engaging in any expense you expect to be reimbursed by the landlord you MUST give him the opportunity for him to get it fixed!
