Can anyone please advise if pilot unit required? Pilot lighting ok but will not light mainburner after depressed 10+secs. Pilot unit part number 30020988 @£33+vat quoted from Parts Centre. I have cleaned carbon deposits from fire box area assumed to be from ceramic coals. Could anything have been blocked - pilot jet somethimes flickers yellow?
Thanks

As it's gas you need a RGI, don't play with things you know nothing about!

Thanks. RGI will be fitting part, just want to know for myself if there is any simple that doesn't need disassembling/reassembling. I can then order part..

Usual fault with valors is there is 2 microswitches one for ignition and one to actually turn the fire off..... If the off microswitch is sticking it will not let the pilot stay on as it acts as an interupter

Thanks for reply- looking at breakdown diagram for Valor 956 showing both piezo and pilot units, i cannot see / ident microswitches you mention. Where else could they be?

Just had a look at instruction ignore what i said yours does not have that system.

Providing your pilot is hitting and heating the probe correctly(and air hole clear) then yes 95% of time it will need the part you think the other 5 % it will be the actual power pack in the tap thats gone

Thanks again. The pilot assembly was covered in ceramic carbonisation and although sucked clean with vacuum cleaner the pilot light is not a pencil blue beam and sometimes as faint yellow colour in it. Seems to be direct onto probe though. Where is airhole you mention please?

:)

On the barrell of the pilot at the back.. Usualy got to strip them out to get to it . So pro territory
