Vanity basin in ensuite

Am looking at swapping a basin in a ensuite for a vanity basin. Can the steam be an issue effecting the wood on the vanity? The basin/where the new vanity would go is quiet close to the shower.

If you have a good quality vanity unit, no problem.
Argos £30 job will rot just looking at it or thinking about it.
Build your own and it will last forever.

Anything made of coated MDF/Chipboard will eventually get wet enough and swell. Especially if the water from the basin runs down when being used.
