Hi

Around 2007 the previous owner had a single story extension built, I'm interested in opening up the ceiling to make it a vaulted ceiling, I understand that the current ceiling beams will need to be replaced with (I presume) larger beams higher up but is there a way to work out what is required or is it a case of getting a structural engineer?

Thanks

You will likely need a structural engineer anyway, assuming it was a practical proposition, which it may not be. Is there an access hatch or do you have the building regs drawings for the extension by any chance? You'll need to tell us how the existing roof works ie post a sketch or photos.
