Hi I have recently purchased a 2000 (V) astra van 1.7 dti and all is ok apart from a slight oil leak. To be honest its more anoying than critical but I did wonder if it is something I can have a go at myself (with help from this forum of course). I think the leak is coming from the (and I don't know the proper name but here goes) rocker cover ! ie the bit on the top of the engine near the glow plugs !. I presume there is a gasket of some description there and I was wondering if it is the type of job I may be able to tackle myself. Any advice is greatley appreciated. Thank you

No probs with that one Rob - buy the gasket first (rubber '0' ring section if I recall)......the old seal hardens with age and leaks like hell.
That'll be the Izuzu engine I think.
John :)

Thanks for your advice John, I will get hold of a rubber gasket and give it a go. Will let you know how I get on.
Cheers
