Hi everyone. I have got a hughe problem with my vivaro when its cold. Basically when i started in mornings it hardly runs. Sounds like it going to stop any sec. I have to press an accelerator to run it up to 2.500 rpm. Seems like it hasnt got any power at all. All these symptoms dissapears after about 5 min and when engine runs for about 5 min, everything seems fine. I have replaced fuel filter, fuel filter is full. all the injectors are working.
Could someone suugest what could be wrong. Any help will be hihgly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance

It's a petrol?
Try the temperature sensor (the one for the engine management) as the rich mixture for cold starting (the choke) may not be turning on.

Thanks for your reply. No, it is diesel. I will have a look at that sensor. i am just wonder, where do i find it ? cheers

i am just wonder is it one called VAUXHALL VIVARO OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR ??? Is it this one which need be chainging or there is inside temperature sensor ? Many thanks in advance

No not sure where the temperature sensor is on the engine.

If you have a manual priming pump on the fuel line, pump it before starting to see if it's an air lock in the fuel line?

Hi. No, not at all. It starts not too bad, but us soon as its starts, seem like engine is going to stop any second. Than, when i started, i have to try to accelirate engine til certain rpm and then after little while ( 3-5 ) it runs ok. cheers

How many miles on it? I'd an old Laguna diesel that was the same, the engine was just worn out with bad compression. Lots of blue smoke and lots of welly to get it warmed enough to idle properly.

miolage is 137000. There is no smoke at all coming out. I have checked compression as well and everything is fine. I havent got any smoke apart from black when i am starting. But i have been told that is normal for diesel engines pour black smoke out of exoust. cheers

mass air flow sensor sounds like it could be at fault, although there are many sensors and devices which can cause these faults
