can anyone explain why i suddenly lost 6th gear and what is the solution

i was driving along motorway in top gear when it just stopped working no noise no vibration just stopped.

do you mean like you had shifted into neutral or dipped the clutch? Do you have any drive in that gear at all? Can you select 6 th gear ? What happens when you select it? Do all the other gears work correct ?
