wouldnt surprise me, but not too clued up on common rail systems

There is a fuel control module on the pump. Did you get one with the replacement pump or did you use the one off your old pump? If so it could be the pump module that needs replacing, they do not need reprograming.
I had this problem with an Astra (isuzu engine), the pump developed a fault and it sent diesel through the wiring to the module. I ended up changing the pump, the wiring and the module.

;)

i had this problem with a customers car-this is a well known situation with vaux dti,the fuel pumps are known to go wrong and if you get a replacement with EXACTLY the right number code you still have to take it to A,vauxhaull so they can re-code,and B,bosch have to put thier code in as well...and as vauxhaull and bosch fell out it is difficult to get them both together-find a local diesel specialist or serch the web...cost my customer so much we scrapped the car!!
good luck!!
