Anyone have any pictures?

Yes, no problem, you just have a plasterboard splay to the cheeks of the window eg

Thankyou, another question, Can this style be fitting to a 12.5 roof pitch.

I was told the window has to be raised, hence looking at the window from outside it'll will have a steeper pitch than the roof. Is this correct and safe to do.

Minimum pitch for a standard velux is 15 degrees, so yes the advice you were given is correct.

Whats the best way to do this kerbing, is it possible for the roof guy to make the raising platform or would it have to be purchased ready made. Is it expensive?

A joiner can put a kerbing together for you velux amongst others sell prefabricated upstands to suit the pitch required.
cost would depend on the window size.
