I recall the film 'The Day After' being a big talking point at colleges...

But I have to say that at no point since have I been so pessimistic about what might happen next as I do in what is now 2026.

And at some point we in the UK have to make a vital choice...

It's isn't a coincidence that Maduro signed a huge oil deal with China but excluded the dollar as means of payment.
Trump is bedwetting about the decline of the petrodollar, forget about WMDs, nuclear weapons , drug smuggling and Islamic terrorism, the biggest threat to America is the dumping of the dollar by country's that no longer trust the U.S. as a reliable trade partner.
America's ability to run huge to deficits is based on the dollar as world reserve currency, the world is using the dollar less and less, every percentage point drop in the use of the dollar internationally costs the Americans 350 billion.
If the world stops buying American debt , then America is funked along with Europe.

Britain started the industrial revolution,
Industrialisation made slavery uneconomical, slaves had to be fed and watered along with a roof over their head.
How much would it cost to keep a slave these days, with the health and safety legislation, insurance against slave rebellions and making the slave owners wife pregnant by big well hung slaves , while the slave owner is out fox hunting with his mates.
