Vented versus Unvented

I'd say go for an unvented system - mains pressure hot water is always nice :D If you have a bath, and use it, or have a larger house it's best to have an unvented cylinder and a boiler rather than a combi, as even modern combi's take ages to fill baths. If you're a bit tight for space look at gettinga system store, which is the best of both worlds IMHO. Here's Gloworm's one http://www.glow-worm.co.uk/products/ultrapower_sxi.asp

I think you lost the plot. A thermal store gives mains pressure and a heat bank up to 10 bar too.

Combis are not the point although there some 3 bathroom models around.

whats an unvented combi thing?? do you mean a combi? or an unvented cylinder with a heat only boiler?

That's the trouble with this game, so much terminology, its confusing for consumers. :) Or... idiots like me obviously.

When I say "combi thing", I meant like a normal combi boiler, like my Vaillant Ecomax jobby in the loft.

I need to get a new boiler system for 1 that is condemned at my Ex's house.
British Gas and a remote bloke have quoted for a Worcester Bosch 28i.

In my house, its 2 adults, both primarily shower users. So I guess a combi works ok for that small need. Although we both can't shower at once. Not sure if I can add a tank to relieve that problem?

But for the Ex's house, they bath alot. So wondered if I need something other than a normal Combi, as there is a tank in the loft, downstairs boiler and a immersion in the airing cupboard that could be replaced.

a householder's opinion:

in a house that already has a tank and cylinder, you can put in a new conventionl boiler without having to change anything else. Although most are unvented (pressurised) there are some open vented boilers around as well.

A modern boiler heats up a modern cylinder in about 20 minutes, so by the time one person has had a bath, got out and towelled off, it will be ready for the next.

there are high flow combis around that do two showers.
