very high clutch peddle

My son has a 1000cc corsa B 1997,the clutch peddle is very very high,is this because the adjuster is at its limit or has he got a bigger problem like needs new clutch..?

Could be because the clutch is worn. most cars have auto adjust now or if its hydraulic it auto adjusts by nature. The pedal is very high on my 406 Hdi but it hasn't got any worse since I bought it 11,000 miles ago and the car has done over 200k now. If treated gently it could last for a long time - or are we talking about a young son?
