Hi,
From sometime we getting extreme hot water in taps.We normally keep hot water settings ON for only for 2-3 hours a day. Could any one please advise what could be wrong in water tank?

ELectric or gas heated water?
If electric, thermostt is faulty or needs adjusting.

If gas boiler heats water tank, look for thermostat fixed on the side. Adjust to about 55°. If it has fallen off, the water will get very hot.

Hi John,
I think you picked it on right spot. For electric spark problem, I called a plumber he opened the immersion cap and saw that one wire ( don't remember colour, probably black one) has a short circuit causing the spark. I cleaned the wire and rewired the as required. After that there was no electric spark.
But as Chris has mentioned thermostat may be faulty(could it be caused due to electric spark?) , do I have any way to check this before calling plumber?

Many thanks for replies guys.

Regards,
Pryank

post a photo of the connections and thermostat under the cap

observe what the thermostat is set to
