Hi,

Our Oil was very low on Saturday I could not see any in the level gauge. The Grant Vortex Pro boiler was still on so I turned it off to make sure the boiler did not cut off.

The tank has now been filled but I want to bleed the system and change the inline filter before I switch it back on to make sure no sludge blocks the boiler up.

Could someone explain/confirm how to do the following:-

1) Has this filter been installed upside down if so what can I do about it?

2)I can't find any information in the boiler manual about bleeding the system does anyone have any information on how to do this?

Thanks

Dave

Errr thats a wee bit original, and ensures that any water in the fuel won't be trapped :P Yes, it is upside down.
However, undoing that central bolt will release the bowl and the paper filter within....it looks like a Crossland one.
one quick way to bleed, after you've renewed the element and tightened everything down - undo the central bolt slightly and at the same time keep the red bowl pressed down onto its rubber seal. When oil appears through the bolt hole, nip it up again.
John :)

next time the boiler is serviced ask the engineer (in advance) if he can do anything to refix the filter in the correct orientation as the way it is currently it is neither filter nor water trap and might as well not be there!
