Hi,

Just changed the ball cock in the big tank in my loft.
Everything went fine, apart from I've got no water from my downstairs bathroom cold taps (all other taps working).
I'll have to buy a hose or something tomorrow to run from the hot to the cold taps, but in the meantime, is it safe to use my central heating???

Many many thanks

Assuming the big tank you refer to is the cold feed for your hot water cylinder, then yes, this has nothing to do with the ch system.

As for your downstairs cold taps, have you turned the cold mains back on properly?

Should be.. Try opening one of the downstairs taps and try to suck the air out I have seen that work.. Always worth a try.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm mainly worried about being able to use the central heating and it sounds like it'll be OK.
Yes, I've turned the water back on.
I've tried the rubber glove over the mixer tap in the kitchen but this hasn't helped.
You mean suck with my mouth? I'll give it a go!
Any other ideas?

After leaving it for about an hour, the pressure seems to have come back on it's own.
Thanks for all the replies.

How did a change of float valve result in an air lock?
