Very slight leak on (very) old compression fitting

Hi all,

Just redoing our kitchen and noticed one of the very old compression fittings on my cold water supply has a very slight leak I.e. barely a drop, but the joint it wet. I have tried to nip up the fitting but it isn’t budging.

Any idea what the best thing to do is? Worried if I try and undo it I could make things worse?

I am having a similar issue (except with a heating pipe). I’ve come across this product here that I am thinking about trying.

My only concern is that it is putting a band aid on the problem rather than addressing the root cause.

Wrap it with a rag and leave it, then just keep an eye on it

very slight leak can change into a fe cking major leak,if a major leak develops who would you expect to pay your damages

hopefully your a responsible householder and able to manage risk
