Very very clever .........British wile had them completely fooled

Could you tell us how many EU countries there were in 1945?

All European countries paid back their debts...

The UK received more than double what Germany did, but chose not to invest it wisely...

The rest as they say is history...

Quitters of course aren't that good with history

Not the point

Fact is with out our war debt there would probably not be an EU ;)

Typical remoaner history is not there strong point

The Americans assault on the Germans was from which island?

Simple question

Your quite right this country became the springboard for the assault on the subjugated European continent in effect an aircraft carrier for the bomber offensive.

He's a little short on historical fact ....pearl harbour then the Americans came in when ...1939 was it ?

The D day assault do you have the figures of the men landed ? It's in a book I'm reading I'll let him look it up.

Fair point,D.Day shortened the war which saved many lives, Hitler's failure to defeat Britain didn't help either.

It also gave a base for the Polish, French and other allies to recoup and fly our planes and fight again with us and the USA

If we didn't hold up the Americans had no base
Russians would have had the might of the German army and the daft Italians and who ever else would have converted to the Nazis..

Germany paid back 50% under the 1953 London agreement. (mind you, that said the UK didn't have a whiter than white record of repayments and as correctly stated, didn't invest the money very wisely)

No one country won that war. One could not have beaten the Germans on their own.

Germany also had Radar, except they didn't understand the value of it and didn't develop it to the extent that the UK did with our high frequency centimetre radar.

We also developed GEE and Oboe, for precision night bombing, plus H2S ground radar to aid bombing accuracy. We also developed the Earthquake bombs plus the aircraft with a capacity to deliver such a large single bomb load, no one else had anything close to the bomb or the aircraft.

We rather ignored the jet engine until after the war, whereas Germany actually developed crude jet powered aircraft, plus the V weapons. However Germany had access to the (expendable) labour and manufacturing capability by then, of most of Europe.
