Vibrating/Shaking Problem When Driving at high speeds

I have a Vauxhall Astra 2004 Reg (Mark 4).

When I get to around 70 mph the car starts to shake; this is a recent problem. I've had this before (exact same symptoms) and it was due to worn down tyres. However my tyres currently are fine (I've checked tread depth etc).

Also I recently torque'd all the bolts on the wheels, as such I'm not sure where to look next. I'm going to look at this again soon; are there any suggestions for what I should look into?

Sure - for a start, have the wheels balanced and checked at the same time for buckling.

I would concur with John, practically all vibration problems are down to wheel balance or ply separation even on newish tyres.

You could try changing the front wheels to the back to see if it makes any difference.

Also check for play in steering ball joints.
