Video's on vista

As some of you know i have recently installed vista and since then ive had a few problems. I have video's on my computer file codec is mpeg, mpg and avi but when i go to play them in windows media player it displays "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is avaliable". Anyone experienced this?

Thanks for that mate i just read them posts and i am going to do what that last guy said and we soon see if it works
