Viessmann are the only ones who make their own STAINLESS STEEL HEAT EXCHANGERS, and very good they are too. Intergas have aluminium heat exchangers with cast-in copper waterways. Vitodens 100-W boilers are not 'nearly all plastic and rubber', that's just nonsense, and they all have a five year warranty anyway. Spares are readily available and not unduly expensive, the comedian who wrote that they were said at the time that he was only guessing. Like the rest of his post.

Rubbish :) whats metal on a vitodens 100 combi , well theres the heat exchanger , pump thats about it really , rest of its tupper ware :) plastic & heater hose from halfords , unless they have changed since we fitted one about 3 months ago ?? as I under stand it they do not sell that model in Germany (not surprised either )

Way I see it Herr Veissmann might be best advised to send his design team to Leeds , & see that it is possible to build a boiler using good old fashioned metal :)

dan, the rep probably means the 60kw worcester monster, you can fit it / work on it as its less than 70kw. youll need a u16 mtr though !

it s a nice boiler made by buderus and re badged as WB. i fitted two so far this yr, no probs, custard very happy

Tupperware? Halfords? Bollards!

@mysteryman

You haven't said anything about the eye waterlingly expensive spares

You'll need to check with Viessmann if they are correct as quoted

   ]

£70 for a PRV!!! Fooking hell ;)

They are correct as of about a week ago. From my list of 32663 different spares across all makes and models of boiler.

It is one of the benefits of holding an account with a big supplier; and being able work across a market rather than being stuck with one manufacturer.

Viessmann are far from the worst I grant you, but like i said - serviced one very recently and thought it was poorly made. Wanted to check a few things with technical (gasket longevity mainly) and how to kept the thing firing long enough to FGA check.

Talk about a ham fisted way of doing it!

Thank all foryour responses, apparently a new mode; has just been releasedl http://www.boilerguide.co.uk/viessmann-launches-new-range-of-condensing-boilers
may be it's better than the earlier version? i have a 4 bedroom house plus 2 radiators in the loft and a bathroom and shower room. BG said i only need 30w model, and i wanted to go at least for the 35w.
i am just a poor housewife with abroken boiler who can't wait for the new boiler to be installed. Now you are talking about INTERGAS boilers, are they even better?

35kW? Why? I have a 4 bed house and it needs less than half of that for heating.

Hot water output for a Combi? Well - you get a few extra litres per minute so the bath will fill quicker, but the difference is negligible. You won't get two good showers at the same time (35kW = 14.2 litres per minute at 35 degree temperature increase).

If flow rates are important then look to a lower kW storage unit.

More important for fuel efficiency is the lowest output the boiler can do in heating mode.

Beware of any and all marketing guff - 90% of all features mentioned in a brochure are found in 99% of the boilers in the market.

Intergas -(or More specifically Atmos) are my favourites, followed by Atag, followed by Worcester, followed reluctantly by Vaillant. I like the Intergas' because of their simplicity. You are however reliant on agents for backup, but if the installer is a good one, and is an agent too - then you shouldn't have any worries. 5 year warranties are on the HRE range too.

To clarify - I am not telling you to NOT have a Viessmann, despite my rather negative soundings.

Like with marketing guff - with those websites; the people that write them have next to no knowledge of the subject they are dealing with and rely on what they are told by the manufacturer who has normally paid to have their stuff placed.

The 111 has phenomenal hot water performance....and looks a good bit of kit...am installing one soon so watch this space..

as all boilers have to accept these type of controls..

No, Absolutely not true, they don't.

Alec1 likes to make things up all sorts of things .
Point them out and he'll back down and back down and back down, then repeat them again after a couple of weeks.

The parts prices quoted were from a spares specialist, who had to put on his own margins. Look at Viessmann Spares Direct.

But they are valid prices from a large distributor with nationwide branches rather than some mail order firm off the internet.

Ian - not sure what your point is either??

Well the way I see it , Veissmann should consider using them Askol circulating pumps , afaik these pumps are all plastic :) :)

Any way OP , if you were looking for a boiler with a heat exc that is as close to the good old fashioned relaible cast iron , dirt frendly ect ect
Take a look at the Intregas or the Atmos variant worth a look see , may be ?

I reckon mysteryman could be a veissmann secret squirrel ( may be )

I am jogging on now :)
