I recently bought my first flat and now need to sort out the bathroom. I've bought some vinyl floor tiles that I intend to lay myself (though may not depending on the advice I get here). My bathroom currently has cork floor tiles laid directly onto the floorbaords (you can see the line of the boards through the tiles). I don't want to lay directly onto these as I reckon the cork just holds the moisture and will encourage damp. What will I need to put down before my new vinyl tiles? I've heard that hardboard is generally used but another website said 6mm plywood is now a common solution. I also read that Aquapanel is good but most of the people using that had ceramic floor tiles. Would it be best to get someone in to lay the hardboard/plywood base? And is the base laid in sections or as a whole? Cheers
