Virgin media cables?

I don't have service from Virgin but at some point the previous owners did.

During decorating the living room the fixings were removed from the wall to aid removal of plaster and some rewire work.

Like I said, I don't have virgin but it may be useful in the future. With that in mind how best to proceed with this cable? Should I just cut it off in the wall and plaster over. Then if I want service in the future they'll have to fit a new cable from the pavement?

Or should I buy some kind of terminating box for it? If so, please advice.

Isn't there a Virgin box on the outside of the house? If yes, you should be able to disconnect the coax and telephone cable there.

The coax should be connected via a F type connector. The telephone cable will be connected via gel filled crimps. Personally, I would cut them with snips (even though you are not legally supposed to).

If it's still connected to the Virgin network, it should already have a terminator on it. They tend to complain a lot if such things are removed.
If it's been in that state for any length of time, it's probably been disconnected elsewhere.

The coax can be disconnected at the outside box as above.
The phone cable will also be connected there, but that can be disposed of as it will not be needed for any future install. Virgin provide their telephone service via the broadband, which uses the coax.

I guess you mean new installs. We have VM. Our phone landline still runs in to an NTE5 type box (from the wall mounted VM cover box on the outside of the house)..
