virus any ideas

I think I may have a virus on my desk top using laptop to post.
Cikcking on desktop shortcuts brings up the properties box.
If I restart evrythings ok but then soon goes wonkie again.
Can't type into google dialogue box - nothing happens, but it will connect to previous search requests. If I type the letter "a" that opens my favourites list
I have restored to last week, windows defender says all ok but cannot get avg 7.1.5 free version to do anything.
Any help much appreciated, thanks

No not wireless and Ive checked all conns.
Also noticed that "control" "A" to select all items does'nt work.

It might be a virus, but you don't give much information away. Try an online scan. You could do worse than here.
