Hello all,

We have a Visonic Powermax Complete, installed (professionally) about 14 months ago.

All has been working fine until today when we were changing our back door and frame and removed the sensor (both parts) and put them onto the new door and frame. The two parts recognise one another but when I try to set the alarm it says 'not ready to arm' and 'back door open' even though the sensor flashes when it gets close to its counterpart.

Is there something else I should have done with this to make it work?

So I thought to compare it with another sensor, this one on the front door. I didn't remove the entire sensor but just the battery cover. When I put the battery back in (I did it once almost straight away and another time I waited over 10 mins), it flashed a few times and there was no drama. However, when I ask the central unit for error codes it now also says 'front door tamper alarm'!!!

So I opened up the main unit (didn't disconnect anything) and an amber warning light came on and when I put it back and ask for error messages, it says "CPU tamper alarm".

I know my user code and have key fobs etc, but do not know the installers code (I've tried the default codes in a manual I found online).

Is there a way of clearing these errors and also any thoughts on what I need to do to get the alarm system to realise that the back door is not open and that the two sensor parts are in fact in close proximity to one another?

Thanks in advance for reading and hopefully helping me sort the problem out.

Front door contact
Take battery out wait 10sec re fit battery
Replace lid ensuring cover is on correctly
Reset control with code

Back door sounds like contact on wrong or gap between contact and magnetic is too big
Take contact off door on put on kitchen worktop .set up as if it was fitted to back door.If ok put back on door,if the gap between the contact and magnet is too big control panel will show as open.
Clear trouble faults

Thank you Handymanjo.

"Reset control with code" - sorry probably a silly question but how do you do this?

The back door door contact we have tried in a variety of positions and distances and nothing seems to make a difference :(

The sensor covers seem to go on fine, no force needed, so think those are on correctly but will try once more.

Thanks again for your comments.

Update:

I have now got the installers code and tried deactivating the back door sensor, which I thought I had done as there is no black box unlike the other zones which have a black box on the central unit.

However, it is still saying back door open!!!

And when I try to reinstall the sensor it says "transmit now" (by which I presume it means to put the two parts of the sensor together?) and I do that but nothing happens!

Please help!

When it says transmit now you trigger the device ?
If pir wave hand in front of sensor
If contact take magnet away from device not that magnet to device.
If you have issue learning door contact you could open cover on contact to trigger tamper when it says transmit now
Post photo of position of magnet next to sensor if still having issue.

Hi I've managed to uninstall and reinstall a PIR thank you but it doesn't want to recognise the contact sensor! I've tried both opening and closing the door when it says transmit on zone 4 but it doesn't register it. I've posted a couple of pics as requested. Thanks for your help.

Have tried taking contact of frame and put magnet directly next to contact ?
Gap between contact and magnet could be too great ?
Possible faulty contact ?

Yeah thanks, have tried with both off and putting at various closer distances. I wonder if the magnet could be damaged but then I wonder why it flashes when they come together?!

Thank you very much for trying to help.

The magnet will not be damaged, more likely the contact is faulty.
You could look on eBay for a cheap replacement and the try with new contact or get the company back that fitted it to sort out.You would be charged for that.

Thanks again.

Would I buy just the contact or a whole new sensor?

Also this evening as I got home the alarm was sounding, but it didn't phone me (whereas it has done previously when set off accidentally). Looking at the log it says zone 4 which I think is the upstairs hallway and is the PIR I managed to uninstall and reinstall (I thought successfully).

I'm pretty sure there was no one in the house and it has never randomly gone off before so I'm guessing it is linked to me messing with the control unit (not that I changed or even attempted to change anything else!).

I guess it could be a coincidence that it went off today but that doesn't explain why it didn't call me.

Very confused!!!
