Vokera 20/80 R.S Flowmatic.
The other day my female mate phones me up and says the boiler is making banging noises and not working.
So I go round and have a look:-
It s not making any more banging noises and the pilot light it still on, I turn the hot tap on and the boiler doesn’t fire, same with the central heating. The pressure was very low so I re pressure it.
When the heating is turned on the pin on the boiler flow switch (under the pump) is going in and the pump is starting.
When hot water is requested the pin on the 3 way valve in front of the heat exchanging is going in. And the pump starts and the pin under the pump goes in ( as above)
But nothing is happening with the boiler firing.
It also appears to be leaking water outside to the external pipe, and it’s also been losing pressure for a round 1-2 months. (Probably due to the leak)
Anyway, the next day my mate speaks to a bloke who came to look at the gas meter which had been making clicking noises; he has a look and removes something and puts it back (she doesn’t know what) and bingo it kicks back in. She is not sure if he actually replaced anything; he didn’t charge her anything and was only there for 10 mins.
He also pointed out that the fan is not running on the slow speed setting?? I thought this would cause the pilot light to go out?
Any help would be much appreciated.
I replaced the diaphragm (part 0226) in the DHW manifold last year and cleaned up the pin, as there was no hot water when a hot tap was turned on. Been fine ever since.
I have bought the diaphragm (0557) for the boiler flow switch (the one under the pump) figuring that may fix the leak.
But as it is now working I’m a bit loath to touch it. But I don’t want to leave her in the lurch if it does pack in again.
Cheers.
