Last week went to a Vokera supposedly required a gas valve. The gas valve was changed by the engineer with no effect on the fault. He then wanted to change the PCB.
The client emailed for information. I suggested that he NOT get the PCB.
I was invited to fix the boiler.
The gas valve was not operating because the safety stat was faulty. The safety stat had failed because the HW stat was up the creek.
The boiler was overhauled for less than what the orignal engineer wanted for changing the gas valve (with the valve supplied by the client). Now the client has a perfectly good gas valve as a spare. A new valve in the boiler that did not need to be changed and a brand new PCB that he cannot take back to the supplier.
Now back to the excel. The thermocouple seldom fails. One would have to be in front of the boiler to diagnose the reason for the pilot outage. I suspect it will be dust and dirt. If the gas valve has indeed been replaced, I (as the end user and footing the bill) would want to eyeball a brand new gas valve now resident in the boiler.
Noisy fan may well be result of neglect. Incoming air (dust laden) will deposit dirt on the impeller making it noisy. Cleaning/ washing same will make the fan quiet. Bearings could be stiff, in which case the fan will screech.
The serial number will start with N5 for 1995 boiler.
Purporting to come from Cuba, I would have thought you would have been aware of a local paper called ( and SPELT ) :-
"5 DE SEPTIEMBRE"
PERIÓDICO DE LA PROVINCIA DE CIENFUEGOS, CUBA, TERRITORIO LIBRE DE AMÉRICA
Back to the boiler, if the fan is on full speed all the time then there is a minor fault with the switch. Any fully competent boiler engineer should be able to fix it.
In theory you should call back the fellow who changed the gas valve but realistically you need somebody trustworthy who has experience of boiler electronics.
Latest.
Went away for a week (to Spain!)so turned boiler off, keep it quiet for the neighbours.
Now on return pilot is out and wont light!! Its cold and I need a bath.
Back to the same problem I had before I had a new gas valve fitted at tremendous expense.
Christ it makes you want to go electric!
