Hi
Recently fitted a Vokera Unica Max 35 combi boiler.
Purchased Hive hub/ thermostat. Need some advice/ info on connecting the receiver to the boiler. Wiring instructions please.

You need the Hive Single Channel Receiver. This is the only version that has voltage free contacts.

The two Hive control terminals:
1 Common
3 Heating On

Go to boiler terminals 5 and 6 after the link between them is removed

The 230V supply to the Hive receiver should come via the same 3A fused connection that supplies the boiler.

You will see many posts saying to link L&1 DO NOT do this, wire exactly as @stem advised above

Hi
Just to be sure I am trying to install

Hive Active V3 Wireless Heating Smart Thermostat to a Vokera Unica Max 35c

Is this wiring diagram suitable for the above.
Thanks in advance

Looked at so many videos on social media etc....and it is an absolute minefield. So many conflicting ways of how to connect...

Hi Ian
you say not to connect L and 1 but all other videos say to connect L to 1 ( common) loop to supply switching power... Not questioning your wisdom /knowledge just trying to understand - dont want to damage my new boiler... possibly now thinking of getting somebody in- do you do this kind of service, we are based in Airdrie not far from you!

I would be using a Nest or a programmer with OT option Instead of antiquated switching system Hive provides

Most boilers do use 230V to control them so the link to L is required to provide the 230V mains supply. However, your boiler doesn't. The installation manual specifies "Contact Must be Free of Voltage" If you make the link, the contact will not be "Free of Voltage" it will have 230V applied which will probably blow up the boilers internal circuit board. Don't forget......

So the connections will be as below. If yours has different connections let us know.

There can be several variants of boilers and they can change during their manufacture. The diagram I posted I got on line from the Vokera website. Click here to see it on page 32. If yours is different post back the details.
