hi all

im totally new to electrical specs.

My sparky has given me a list of bits to order

i need light switches which are 1 gang 1 way and 1 gang 2 way.

Im looking on the screwfix website and in the range im looking at Volex ss round edge they only show an intermediate 10ax for a single switch

is this suitable, is it a multi use socket?

any help much appreciated

thanks

Why is your sparky asking you to order the parts ?

If he is a reputable electrician he will have trade accounts that will give him trade discounts that reduce the cost to you ( or increase his profit ).

Sounds dodgy.

Use the down arrow key on that page and you will find it.

Its a switch not a socket.

The only reason I can think of for this is that the OP said they were not sure what style of switches to use (metal/plastic/colour), so the electrician said 'OK, get them yourself, and I'll fit them'.

Not an impossible scenario.

Many customers seem convinced that it's cheaper for them to get the stuff.

This can often result in the electrician being stuck with the wrong gear.

2-way switches can be used as 1-way as well.
Intermediate switches can be used as 1-way and 2-way as well.

Though you would be better off getting the correct switches, as intermediate switches can tend to be more expensive.
