volume confusion regarding hip to gable loft conversion

Wow I thought this may be the case, wessex and Freddie you've no idea how much I appreciate that! Now I was always talked out of having a flat roof dormer but just for the sake of it, purely to ask my architect. If I went with the hip to gable conversion and still needed to stay within 40m3 what size rear dormer would I get away.
